The Law

What a wonderful title to start with in my daily devotion. It totally smoke my face off when i was reading through Romans 7:7-12. The end of the verse explains that the law is holy and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. However, why would the law be good if it requires our obedience towards something that is almost impossible to achieve? It is as if sending ourselves towards eternal condemnation. So, is the Law sin? May it never be! Those were resounding words that Paul wrote in his letter.

The Law reflects God's perfect standard and holiness. Therefore, when God bestow upon the 10 commandments, sin became alive. Paul did not meant to imply that sin became alive and there is nothing we could do but we became aware of sin and that we are walking towards the road of eternal damnation. As a result, it creates in us the need for a Saviour. However, many are led to thinking that through obeying the Law, we could earn salvation through good works and merit. Unfortunately, God does not compromise the standard He has set.

Hopefully, through looking into the perfect Law, we will be concious of our sinful nature and that will lead us to accepting the only way for redemption through Jesus Christ.
